Does the First Invisalign tray move your teeth?

Invisalign treatment is an effective alternative to metal braces. Invisalign aligners are a preferred choice for various reasons. Before starting your teeth straightening process, you have to visit your dentist for a consultation process to give your teeth measurement for your aligners fittings. After the consultation, you receive your first set of Invisalign trays, which help start your teeth strengthening process.

The most common question people have after receiving their first set of Invisalign trays is what they can expect from wearing an Invisalign tray in the first week. You have to wear each set of Invisalign trays for two weeks. Each tray, including the first one, is manufactured to straighten your teeth more than the previous tray slightly. Your first Invisalign tray will typically move the teeth around 1/10mm. However, there can be some variation in the process of moving teeth during the treatment depending upon your condition. Moreover, the first Invisalign tray also puts gentle pressure on your teeth to shift them into place, leading to some soreness.

What can you expect while wearing your first Invisalign tray?

During your first Invisalign tray, you can expect some soreness and tongue bites. Your dentist might tell you to eat cold liquid foods like smoothies, ice cream, yogurt, etc.

During your first set of aligners, you will notice a significant amount of discomfort, but you will get used to it as you proceed with the treatment.

The first tray can make it hard for you to move your jaw, or you can face some difficulty in speaking fluently. Your first Invisalign tray is meant to put low pressure on your teeth while making gaps between your teeth if you have crowded teeth.

In addition, if you see swelling in your mouth or lips, you can use hot salt water to rinse your mouth. It will provide some relief. However, before using any of the tips or if you face any problem with your Invisalign aligners, it is important to consult your dentist for proper treatment.
